Salmon season is still going strong. A few people are jumping a Steelhead here and there. Some are landed and some lost( we have lost so far and had only couple on). They are like a pin balls with a couple jumps all in the matter of seconds. A few fresh Coho have entered the system along with the consistent trickle of Kings. Trickle best describes this years run. The last big rain was 1.75" August 10th.. After that 1/2" to 3/4 " at a time just enough to keep fires down.
Took today off for my B-Day just to sleep-in and take a break next open day is the 15th..If you would like to fish Kings/Coho/Steelhead or Trout I'm open Oct 15,16,17,21-26..
Been Lure fishing on the Big Manistee a couple days last week and looking for a Steelhead or two but no luck ticking off a Steelhead just a bunch of Kings bit the lures.. Guys fishing eggs and egg flies are getting a few Steelhead a day targeting them the whole day on the Manistee. Here on the Pere Marquette I had a few good lure days and mixed in some fly fishing later in the day after the lure bite petered out in the after noon. The fly fishing as of late has been good to excellent. Had a first time fly fisher women that had 2 trout on, one on each egg also many Salmon on and a couple to the net. Some Salmon still look good some not so good. The Trout are biting and beautiful. So it all evens out..
Over all, the fall colors are great, fishing is good to great and the weather is cooling off and Fall is in the air. Start packing some warmer cloths for the a.m. we had a heavy frost/ freeze this a.m...Here's a few pictures many are on customers cameras..
Thank You All for staying with us and fishing with us this season thus far..
