Hi All

Just a quick update. The river is clear again up top. Trout are feeding on dry flies in the evening out back very steady. The lower end was starting to drop and clear up. Today and yesterday we had some brief thunder storms. We could have gotten 1/2 to 3/4 of a inch of rain in the past 2 days.  But it is hot and muggy up here the past few days, so what rain we have had it has been going right back into the clouds or soaking into the ground. The river hasn't shown much change up here. Down low these latest T-Storms should help keep it stained and above average because of the many tributaries between here and there.

The Kings are running slowly. It is bath water out in Lake Michigan on the surface and in front of the Pier heads. Thing's to look for to help the Salmon run #1 Rain and the more the better, # 2 East winds flip the lake over cold water up front at the Pier heads, # 3 North wind blows cold air and cooler water. On days the stars line up and we get all 3 at the same time is the days we have a rock star day on the river as far as #'s go. With all that said it is still just a trickle of Kings and still waiting for those magical conditions to hit. We have had one of them good conditions on August 8 th. 3.25" of rain. That started things along with a cool summer.

Mid river has a few pools that are holding a few Salmon if you float a long enough stretch, have good eyes, and know where to look you will find them. I haven't herd of any big pile of them in any one hole but there is a decent # 's for August 18 th. I had a King trip with Keith and his son Chad on the lower end on Saturday. We had a ball and the fishing wasn't bad either for August 15 th. 2 for 8 and 2 other nibbles or bumps. These guys could cast, low and close to the banks. Didn't fire one cast at a Squirrel all day, I loved it. Lost my first bait to a fish gone crazy with a figure 8 in a log jam. If you have to loose a bait that is a acceptable way to go..

Open days left for August to do trips  20,22,23,24,25,26,30   1/2 days are great in August..

Open days left for September to do trips 4,11,13,14,15,16,20,23

Give me a call Hard Hitting Spin Tackle, or Flies you choice...

Here are more pictures

We went to different water and Johnny and Rusty connected. We had 4 or 5 grabs and 2 to the boat this mourning...The water had a little more color and higher today down low. Here in the fly water it has cleared up and been dropping fast since yesterday A.M. The fish will be looking up for dries again soon.

Hi All

Just a quick update. There was 3.25 " of rain that came down hard Saturday in the A.M. I went fishing down low last Wednesday 8/ 5 with Steve M.. The water was low and clear and it was slow. We had one King strike and 3 Pike nibbles. This morning 8 /10 we had 4 Kings on and 1 to the boat and 4 Pike nibbles and 1 to the boat. The water was dirty like we like it but there isn't a ton of fish around and in the high water they were not in their normal lies. 8 nibbles in a half day isn't bad . I forgot to add in my last report that my  Mom and I went out on the big lake with Johnny R. and caught a 17 lbs. King . That was his big fish for the season until last week Johnny and crew boated a King at 20 lbs. and the next fish was 25 lbs.. 3 min later. A friend Sean boated a 26 lbs. last week as well. The King we boated today gave us a great fight and was around 10 - 12 lbs. range. The Pike was around 20 " hammer handle.

My days open in August are 12,13,14,16,17,18,19,20,23,24,25,26,30,31... I will do 1/2 days for any of the days in August.
Open days left in September are 4,11,13,14,15,16,18,20,23...

It will be hit or miss down low for a while but I will be going back tomorrow to a diff rent area to see if there are more elsewhere...
