There has been some great weather for Steelheading this winter so far. It is going to get really cold over the next week with some single digits. We still don't have much snow on the ground. Last week we melted off our 4" base of snow we had + some rain that helped raised the river near the top of it's banks but not quite over the banks. So right now we are not low and clear at the moment, and there is a nice stain and the river is falling fast back to normal levels.
The ice fishing has been good. We had 2 days of iffy ice on Friday, Saturday, Sunday last weekend when it hit the mid 40's and rained but all is we'll again and it's building more ice on the lakes. Lakes that are deep and hard to freeze have 2" and lakes that are shallow back in the woods have 4" to 6". Best mess of gills was around 20 keepers, and biggest fish so far was a 10 3/4" Blue Gill and a 12 1/4" Crappy. I haven't had a Perch over 9" yet this season. I've only been out about 5 or 6 times with a late start to the ice fishing season. I Love catching those slab pan fish !!
Snowmobiling has been a bust so it's a real good thing the Steelheading and ice fishing have been keeping me out of trouble. Plugg-en last time I was out we were 6 for 9 with John, 2 days later Tommy and I were 6 for 9 with flies , the next time I was out we only got 1 for 1... So it can be great or a near bust on the water this time of year. Those Steelhead are fussy some days and other days you do real well considering it's January. Same as always you just have to go and see what you can catch and what there biting on that day.
We are excited about a new piece of furniture in our Lodge Center. Out with the old white tray the microwave used to sit on and the old table the cereal was placed on...
And in with the new Hickory 9' long countertop table...
Thank you to the Log Carpenter in Newago for another great piece of furniture. We love it and hope you all will too!
Come on up and spend some time outdoors. Cabin fever is bad for you..

As of today's date, we have removed anonymous access of our live streaming web cam. What this means is that you will no longer be able to log on and take control of the camera and utilize it's pan, tilt and zoom features. You WILL however, still be able to view the camera any time you would like and we will make sure the camera is positioned in the best possible spots. This is a sad day for us. Our intention was to provide our guests and web site visitors the chance to use this camera and all of it's benefits. We have had a visitor that was misusing the camera and has made it impossible for us to continue providing it's benefits to everyone.
